Exactly one month ago today, January 25, we opened our first store in Denver, Colorado.  It has been a very exciting time getting to know the pets and the pet people in Denver!

No, the title does mean we want cats to go away  – quite the contrary! SCRAM stands for Stray Cat Rescue Associates of MN.  SCRAM will be holding an adoption event at our Roseville, Minnesota store on Sunday, February 20th from 12 noon – 3 pm.

Volunteers will be available to help you with adopting and to answer any cat questions you may have. Chuck & Don’s team members will be available to help you select any supplies or food you will need for your new family member.

We are gearing up, and we are getting ready to bowl you over!

Registration for the Fourth Annual Pins for Pets fundraiser is now open. Because of the popularity of this event, we have expanded it to two days, Saturday, August 13^th and Sunday, August 14^th.  The event will again be held at Flaherty’s Arden Bowl, in Arden Hills, Minnesota.

The 2011 recipient is Minnesota Spay Neuter Assistance Program, Inc (MN SNAP).  Chuck & Don’s founder and CFO Chuck Anderson, Katie K-9 and Ian Punnett of My Talk 107.1 FM will be there cheering you on as you bowl for the fix to help reduce pet overpopulation.

On Saturday, February 19^th, 11 am – 12 noon, our Bloomington, Minnesota store will be hosting an appearance of Jerry the Dog and one of the staff from the Ronald McDonald House.

Jerry’s job is to bring joy and laughter to the families of children with life-threatening illnesses who are staying at the Ronald McDonald House. Come see for yourself why Jerry is so popular with kids, parents and staff alike. He is one charming Labradoodle!

That’s how many dogs and their owners participated in the Chuck & Don’s Skijoring Loppet held earlier this month (Feb. 5-6).

Getting the various breeds of dogs to actually run the race was a different story.   Some dogs took off with lightning speed when the race began.

Some owners yelled ‘Squirrel!’ to spur their dog into action.  Still others let their dog tote his/her favorite toy in his/her mouth during the race.   Whatever racing method was used, fun was had by all!

And if you want to know how to keep your dogs warm after the race, just stand next to the vet who literally gave the coat off her back to warm up an older dog.

All of this and more happened at this year’s Chuck & Don’s Skijoring Loppet held at Lake of the Isles and Theodore Wirth Park in Minneapolis, Minnesota.  Many people and their dogs showed up, both as spectators and participants.  There were so many people that the Chuck & Don’s team members moved 15 toboggan loads of gear – 72 pounds of hot cocoa alone!
