• I am thankful to my pup mostly because she always loves me.

• My cat Ashley is a great stress reducer, nothing beats the feeling I get whenI’ve had a tough day and she climbs into my lap and starts purring

• I am thankful for the pets in my life because of how they make me feel everyday.  They make me feel happy, loved and needed.  I have noticed that when I am with my dogs I am smiling all the time. Their love is reciprocated and makes me feel a vital part of their world.  I like to feel that they need me and I can provide them with a pleasant environment and a good life.  Making them happy, makes me happy!

• I am so very thankful for my pets. I truly believe they make a person’s life more rewarding and a lot happier! I love my Chihuahuas!

• I am thankful for Samson (my rottie/lab puppy) because without him, I would never exercise as much as I do or have ended up becoming Event Coordinator for the amazing rescue I adopted him from! I’m totally absorbed in the animal adoption world now – and I love every second of it!  Thanks Samson!

• I’m thankful for my Parker (my min pin) because I never realized just how unfulfilled my life was without a dog! He brightens my day every day and helps me calm down!

• I am thankful for all my pets, but can’t remember a morning without a nice solid head butt involved from Satchie my cat (his way of saying get your lazy self up and enjoy life NOW! Oh, and feeding me would be acceptable too.)

• I am thankful for the pets in my life because they are truly a blessing from God sent to be with us to teach us life lessons. They are always grateful for a warm hug, a good meal and a good snuggle. There is nothing like a good sloppy kiss.

Here are some tips to keep your pets safe and ensure they enjoy Thanksgiving as much as you do!

• No turkey bones for pets as that could splinter and cause choking
• If you want to give your pets a taste of turkey, make sure it’s well cooked, taking away the chances they come in contact with salmonella
• Did you know giving your pet raw bread dough can mean a trip to the vet? Their body heat causes the dough to rise in his/her stomach
• Keep your pets on their regular diet over the holidays; don’t let them overdo it on the turkey and trimming as they could wind up with a case of stomach upset, diarrhea or even worse—an inflammatory condition of the pancreas known as pancreatitis.
• Keep a tight lid on the trash so your pets don’t get into it when you’re not looking
• If you have many guests visiting, consider putting your pets in a room where they are least likely to be disturbed by all the activities.

One way to honor our veterans is to simply thank a veteran for their service to our country.

There are many other ways to show your respect to our veterans.  One way might be that either you or pet wear an article of clothing supporting your favorite branch of the armed forces.   If this is your choice, please stop by our Cottage Grove store from 9am – 9pm on Veteran’s Day, Nov. 11^th,  to have a photo taken of  you and/or your pet.

Look what happens when we all get together and help the animals…..

A volunteer from Red Lake Rosie’s Rescue contacted our Plymouth store to purchase $1,300.00 worth of dog and cat food for the rescue.

Jim Flipp, food buyer for Chuck & Don’s took it a step further and connected the volunteer to Chuck & Don’s distributor, American Distribution.

The results?

• 2,300 pounds of food were purchased directly from the distributor to feed the dogs and cats at the spay and neuter clinic on the Red Lake Indian Reservation.
• There were 120 cats and dogs spayed/neutered at the clinic and many animals were given updated vaccinations as well as taking care of other medical issues.
• EVERY owner went home with a large load of food for their pets!

What an outstanding example of the “village” working together with an awesome outcome!
